Youth Ministries
The First Congregational Church has a variety of different ways for High School and Middle School Youth to connect with our church.
Middle School Youth Group
Our Youth Group for grades 6-8 meets on Mondays from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. As we get together, we have some snacks, shoot baskets, and play foosball in our youth room. Each week we have games, programs, and time for sharing joys and concerns. We also have special events like Broomball, Laser Tag, overnights, and summer camps.

High School Youth Group
Our Youth Group for High School is on Wednesdays from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. We have games, discussions, programs, service projects, weekend retreats, fundraisers, sailing, and other events throughout the year. Each spring, we put a lot of energy into our Mission Trip, and this year we are going to Chicago over spring break.

Mission Trip
Elena Larssen leads our High School Youth on a mission trip to do service and learn more about our neighbors in other parts of the country. This year’s trip was to Chicago over spring break. Click here for more photos.

Youth Choir
Our Youth choir sings in worship at different times throughout the year under the direction of Joe Guthrie, including Christmas Eve. They also participate in our Christmas Pageant and our Spring Musicals. For information about their rehearsal schedule, please contact Joe Guthrie.
Spring Musicals
Every year we put on a musical in the spring, and our youth are always an important part of the show.

Confirmation
Youth in 8th grade and older are invited to participate in Confirmation Class, which is a chance to learn what it means to be a full member of our church. The class meets for 10 weeks during worship beginning in February, and youth who choose to join the church are confirmed on Pentecost (50 days after Easter). Classes include discussions of the Bible, the history of Christianity, the UCC and where we fit in Christianity and the religions of the world, and our own faith journeys. Participants choose sponsors from the church to meet with on an individual basis, and each person is asked to write their own statement of faith at the end of the class. David Howell, our Minister, leads the class.
